Traffic Management Design and Planning

We are qualified with the Current Traffic Management Design ( TMD) Certification for full compliance from 1st July 2016.

In accordance with the licence parameters and the Policy and Procedures of Shield Traffic, all planning designs including Traffic Guidance Schemes

( TGS ) and Traffic Management Plans ( TMP ) are to meet current TMR standards at all times.

Any use of a TMD under the license and design of Shield Traffic's Designer should be considered for auditing and compliance under the TMD guidelines to ensure that the Designers knowledge and ongoing improvement of their license terms are being achieved.

All planning works that are likely to impact on Roads shall assess the impact of the works on traffic, pedestrian and cyclist flow before submitting an application for a closure permit.

ALL planning works are to determine whether a closure complies with normally acceptable guidelines or will need special approval from the Regulatory Authority, allowing at least 7 workings days to process and containing at least the following information:

  • Traffic Control Permit Application Form M994 which Shield Traffic can supply and complete ready for the PCBU’s submission.
  • Traffic Guidance Schemes site specific showing details and distances of signs and other traffic control devices; demonstrating  compliance with the relevant diagrams to sections of Manual Of Uniform Traffic Control Devices Part 3.
  • Letter of approval from other relevant authorities as required when works affect residents or Council / State controlled roads.
  • SHIELD TRAFFIC ARE CERTIFIED TO DESIGN ALL REQUIRED PLANNING.
